If this report is to be believed, the distance between Delhi and Lucknow can be covered in one hour and 38 minutes on a bullet train.

According to the report, Indian Railways is conducting several high-speed feasibility tests in a bid to cut travel time for trains running on the Golden Quadrilateral network.

Indian Railways spokesperson Anil Saxena said right now the draft final report has been submitted to Railways. “Various divisions will now study and give their inputs, which in turn will be incorporated by these firms in their final report,” he said and added that the final report will be submitted to the Railway Board in a couple of months.

The news report added that one of the drafts from the test for the Delhi-Kolkata route says the distance between Delhi and Varanasi will be covered in two hours and 37 minutes.

The maximum operational speed of the trains is expected to be between 250-300 kilometres an hour. The cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 1.21 lakh crore, said the report.
