Nirav Modi’s Alibaug Bungalow Built In Violation Of Law To Be Blown Up Using Dynamite Today

Fugitive businessman Neerav Modi’s 30,000 sq ft bungalow is slated to be demolished on Friday (8 March), reports Times of India. The bungalow, situated at Kihim beach, Alibaugh, is to be demolished using controlled blasting.
Earlier, on Tuesday (5 March), an excavator removed tiles and plaster to expose the pillars of the bungalow.
"The controlled blasting is being done to bring down the structure, we have identified the pillars, and cavities are being created to plant dynamite into those which will be used for blasting and bringing down the structure. Before that we had to remove the glass panes, walls and windows in the structure which is being carried out today," Raigad additional collector, Bharat Shitole, as reported by India Today.
According to the India Today report, Nirav Modi had the permission to build the villa on 376 sq m but he went on to construct it over 1,081 sq m violating the Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) as well as the local administration's permit.
In 2011, the then district collector, on the grounds that the bungalow existed since 1986, had issued an order that there was no violation. However, the order was reviewed by present collector Vijay Suryawanshi, who found several violations and issued the demolition order.
Suryawanshi had on 4 December filed an affidavit in the Bombay High Court informing it of the demolition order.
