NIT Trichy Turns ‘Margdarshak’: To Guide 14 Engineering Colleges As Part Of AICTE’s Mentoring Scheme

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has granted National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy the status of mentor institute to 14 engineering colleges in the surrounding region.

This move is AICTE’s initiative under the Margdarshan Scheme to guide and circulate knowledge among engineering colleges.

“This scheme will help motivate the students to come up with innovative ideas and widen the exposure to the prototype development on enhanced educational standards and research aptitude,” said NIT-T director Mini Shaji Thomas, reports Times of India.

The purpose of this is to conduct guest lectures, faculty development programmes, national level workshops. The AICTE has sanctioned a grant of Rs 30 Lakh for a duration of three years and other activities for the technical development.

The objectives of the Magdarshan scheme are to mentor institutes by a well performing Institute and to establish the Hub ‘n Spoke system where a reputed institute acts as a mentor within an existing facility to serve as the hub to guide and disperse knowledge to technical institutions encouraging best practices.
