No 5 Star Hotels For New MPs Waiting For Official Accommodation, Modi Government To Put Them Up At State Facilities

The new Members of Parliament (MPs) who are in Delhi to attend the first session of the seventeenth Lok Sabha that started on Monday (17 June) will not be staying at five star hotels like previous years and are being accommodated at Western Court hostel complex, including the new Western Court Annexe that was constructed last year, reports The Hindu.
According to the report, during the time they await allotment of houses, the newly elected legislators, instead of staying at hotels like previous years, will be accommodated at state bhavans, Western Court and other government facilities, a Lok Sabha Secretriat official was cited in the report as saying.
The new Western Court Annexe, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year in April, has a total of 88 rooms, of which 78 have been booked for MPs. It is being used to house the MPs for the first time.
Thirty of the 74 rooms in the historic old building at Western Court have been kept aside for the Lok Sabha MPs, a Central Public Works Department (CPWD) official said.
As per the report, first-time MPs in 2014 were accommodated in hotels as they waited to be given their official residences, leading to a huge bill for the exchequer.
