No Outrage From The ‘Usual Suspects’ Over Brutal Murder Of 3-Year-Old Twinkle Sharma In Aligarh

Three days after 3-year-old Twinkle Sharma went missing in Aligarh, her mutilated body was found in a dumping ground on 2 June in Tappal, Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh.
The accused, Zahid along with his friend Aslam were arrested on Tuesday (4 June). He has reportedly admitted to the crime saying that he lured the little girl with biscuits. He murdered the child choking her with a dupatta. The body was found in a bag, eyes gouged out and decomposed, reports Amar Ujala.
Meanwhile, Twinkle’s family confirmed that the accused Zahid owed them Rs 10,000. Both had an argument over the money the day before Twinkle went missing, during which Zahid had warned them of dire consequences. The family members, talking to Times Now, complained about police’s inaction and said that the murder could have been avoided if the police had registered a case quickly. Reportedly, the FIR was filed only after 30 hours of the kidnapping.
The family members said that the girl’s body was mutilated beyond recognition and her hand was chopped off by the murderer. The family members demand death penalty for the gruesome murder of the child. The accused in the case, Zahid, reportedly is under investigation for rape of another minor and was out on bail.
After the police recovered Twinkle’s decomposed body, the news spread and the villagers started agitating outside Tappal police station and demanded a new station in-charge. The near-by markets also remained closed for almost two hours, until the police managed to disperse the crowd.
The Twitterati were quick to point out the lack of space given to the incident in mainstream media, and criticised the celebrities over their differential standards. While Kathua rape case was quickly given a communal angle and saw them holding placards with ‘Devi sthan’ and ‘Hindustan’, no such voices arose in the Twinkle Sharma case.
