A BCCI team meeting
BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal cleared the air on Wednesday by asserting that no Indian cricketer made any complaint to the board about skipper Virat Kohli’s captaincy style.
Recently, reports had emerged saying that senior players Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara had complained to board secretary Jay Shah about Kohli’s leadership following the team’s defeat in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
However, Dhumal lashed out at the media for circulating such stories in the aftermath of Kohli stepping down as the captain in T20 internationals on 16th September.
“The media must stop writing this rubbish. Let me say this on the record that no Indian cricketer has made any complaint to the BCCI - written or verbal. The BCCI can't keep answering every false report that keeps appearing,” Dhumal was quoted in a report by the Times of India.
He added, “The other day, we saw some reports saying there will be changes in India's World Cup squad. Who said that?”
As per the report, it is also claimed that the BCCI is intrigued that a section of media seems to know almost everything about the Indian team hours after Kohli resigned from T20I captaincy.
However, the same people were clueless of any alleged complaints made against Kohli even 24 hours before he announced his aforementioned decision earlier this month, which clearly makes their claims unsubstantiated.
