In a statement issued by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, it was said on Tuesday (18 June) that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government has not sent any formal proposals for construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) since the inception of the scheme in 2015, reports The Hindu.
The citizens of Delhi are forced to approach the Union Ministry directly, while the Delhi Government's Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) is the empowered entity supposed to provide the facility.
Meanwhile, responding to the statement, a spokesperson of the Delhi government said that the AAP government had its own housing scheme, Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana and that the survey for it was being carried out presently.
Under the flagship scheme of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, the Union government provides financial aid to the beneficiaries to construct their own homes.
