No Respite In Sight For Ailing Jet Airways: Pilots Serve Legal Notice To Airline For Clearance Of Salary Dues

The pilots body of the ailing Jet Airways, National Aviators Guild (NAG), on Tuesday (9 April) served a legal notice to the airline, setting 14 April as the deadline for the new management to clear their salary dues, reports Financial Express.
According to the report, the private carrier’s pilots, engineers and senior executives have not been paid for the last three months amid cash crunch in the airline that saw an ownership change last month with banks taking majority shares in the Jet Airways. Besides, the airline has also defaulted on the payment of March salaries to some other employees as well.
“My client calls upon the management of Jet Airways to pay their outstanding salaries for January, February and March, by 14 April and future salaries by the first of every month,” a legal notice by NAG said, as reported by FE.
“Failing which my client shall be constrained to resort to all constitutional and legal means available with them to ensure payment of their salaries,” the notice stated.
Earlier, in late March, the guild had warned of a “no flying call” from 1 April over the issue of delayed salaries. However, they had deferred the decision to 14 April.
As per the report, on 3 March, the Jet management had informed its employees that salaries for March month were deferred due to delay in implementation of the bank-led resolution plan.
