‘Not A Single Bullet Fired In Last 6 Days’: J&K Police Asks People To Not Believe ‘Mischievous, Motivated’ Media Reports

Brushing aside a video of Kashmiri protestors being pushed back by the security forces, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday (10 August) said that they have not fired a single bullet for nearly a week and the situation in the region is calm, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The said video shared by BBC's South Asia Bureau Chief, Nicola Careem had quickly gone viral. Prompted by the development, the police administration issued the clarification and requested the media personnel and agencies to act responsibly.
The Inspector General (IG) of Police, Kashmir, S P Pani rejected the media reports and said, “This is to clarify that some international media reports regarding firing incidents in the Valley are wrong. No such incident has taken place. Valley has remained largely peaceful over the last one week.”
"People should not believe any mischievous and motivated news reports regarding firing incidents in the Valley. The police have not fired a single bullet in the last six days. The situation is calm. people are cooperative and restrictions are being relaxed," he added.
On the other hand, different videos show that the normal life is resuming in the terror-ridden state. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval has been visiting Kashmir and interacting with local population.
