Now Don’t Just Comment But ‘Critique’: FTII Pune Launches 20-Day Course In ‘Film Criticism & Review’

In a first, India’s premier film institute Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune has announced a course in Film Criticism and the Art of Review.
The course would run for 20 days and would be conducted between 28 May to 1 June in Delhi. FTII will collaborate with Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Delhi for the course. Bhopal-based filmmaker Ms Rajula Shah, an FTII alumnus, has been made in charge of the curriculum.
Commenting on the course, Bhupendra Kainthola, Director, FTII, said that it meets a long-standing demand of cinema critics, film reviewers, film bloggers, research scholars, film academics and just about anyone who has more than ordinary interest in cinema.
“One needs to know how to ‘read’ a film in order to review it, the tools for which will be provided through this course,” he added.
Anyone can apply for the course as the course doesn’t carry age restrictions. The last date to submit the application is 22 April.
“The Course is being conducted under FTII's countrywide film education outreach initiative SKIFT (Skilling India in Film and Television) under which over 135 short-term courses have been held in 37 cities across the country covering over 5800 learners,” said a government release.

Recently Indian actor Anupam Kher resigned as the chairman of FTII. In a Twitter message, he informed his followers that his "commitment to international TV shows" was the reason for him stepping down.
