A curious case has emerged in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where 20-year old Pooja Joshi has refused to marry her boyfriend, Mohsin Khan, until he converts to Hinduism as reported by the Times of India.
Pooja, an undergraduate, had eloped with Mohsin, a taxi driver, on Sunday (26 November) following which her family had filed a missing report.
The couple were detained from Bikaner and brought back to Jodhpur where the girl’s family had assembled along with some Hindu groups, fearing another case of “love jihad”.
Love Jihad has become a contentious issue in the country following several cases being reported from Kerala leading to uproar by right wing groups. The National Investigation Agency is currently probing 90 such cases which follow a pattern of Muslim men marrying Hindu women, many of them facilitated by known Islamist groups. The high profile love jihad Hadiya case, is curently being heard by the Supreme Court which is yet to announce it’s verdict on the marriage.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
