Now ‘One Nation, One Card’ For Public Transport: PM Modi Launches National Common Mobility Card In Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched 'One Nation One Card' for transport and mobility at a function in Ahmedabad, reports Times Of India.
National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is the first of its kind card in India. India's first indigenously developed payment eco-system for transport consisting of NCMC card, Swachalit Kiraya: Automatic Fare Collection System (SEEKER) and Swachait Gate (SWAGAT) is based on NCMC standards.
These are bank-issued cards on debit/credit/prepaid card platform. A customer could use a single card for payments across all payments across all segments including metro, bus, suburban, railways, tolls, parking, smart city and retail.
The service area feature of this card supports operator specific applications such as monthly passes, season tickets etc.
Ministry of housing & urban affairs brought to the fore the National Common Mobility (NCMC) to enable seamless travel by metro and other transport systems across the country besides retail shopping and purchases.
National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Amitabh Kant has said that a ‘one-nation one-card’ policy would be introduced for public transport very soon. The card is expected to bring in seamless connectivity between different modes of transportation.
