A thermal power plant (NTPC)
NTPC has geared up to meet the increasing power demand in the country, and the generation from NTPC group stations has registered a 23 per cent growth compared to the previous year.
“The country is witnessing a sharp increase in power demand and NTPC is making all efforts for meeting demand as per the grid requirement,” the official statement said.
To meet the increase in demand, NTPC has undertaken several measures, including increasing coal production from all captive mines of NTPC.
Under flexible utilization of coal policy, NTPC is arranging coal at the stations where the stock position is critical.
Besides augmenting 2.7 Lakh MT import coal left out from the earlier contracts, NTPC is continuously coordinating with Coal India and Railways to increase coal supply at critical stations and diverting rakes wherever required.
Also, Darlipali unit-2 (800 MW) in Odisha was put in operation, and Commercial operation of the Unit is being done with effect from 1 September. The plant is a pit-head station, and the coal is being fed from a captive mine of NTPC (Dulanga).
“The states are also requested to schedule offtake from the gas Stations. In order to make arrangements for gas for generator companies, States are requested to schedule power for at least for a week,” NTPC said.
