Odisha coronavirus update
The Covid-19 tally in Odisha saw an addition of 51 more cases raising the total number of positive cases in the state to 1,103, said the health department on Thursday (21 May).
The death toll increased to seven after an 85-year-old male from Ganjam district died due to the deadly virus.
The 85-year-old man, who belonged to Ganjam district, died on Wednesday (20 May). He was also suffering from hypertension, the Health and Family Welfare department said, reports Deccan Herald.
“Regret to report the death of a 1 patient (Male age 85) of Ganjam District (Surat returnee) Hypertensive with other comorbidities,” the department said in its official twitter post.
With this, the active cases in the state stood at 753 while 343 persons have recovered so far.
Ganjam district has reported the highest 317 Covid-19 positive cases so far, followed by 179 infections in Jajpur, 122 in Balasore, 95 in Bhadrak, 71 in Khurdha, 45 in Puri, 45 in Cuttack, 40 in Kendrapada, 33 in Boudh, 30 in Jagatsinghpur, 27 in Sundargarh and 21 in Nayagarh.
Other districts that have reported under 20 cases include Angul (19), Mayurbhanj (14), Kalahandi (13), Keonjhar (8), Balangir (6), Sambalpur (5), Kandhamal (3), Malkangiri (3), two each in Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh, and one in Koraput.
