Hours after taking oath, President Donald Trump signed an executive order for “minimising the economic burden” of Obamacare “pending repeal”. This was Trump’s first act since becoming the 45th President of the United States.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters that Trump signed the order on Affordable Care Act directing “the departments and agencies to ease the burden of Obamacare as we transition to repeal and replace.” The order was titled “Minimising the economic burden of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act pending repeal”. No details about the order have been provided by the White House.
The order directs federal departments and agencies to take actions consistent with law to reduce the unnecessary regulatory burdens of the Act, and give the states more flexibility to create a freer and open healthcare market. The Republican-controlled Congress has already taken steps to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Last week, they signed bills to complete the first step to repeal the law.
