Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu today (14 July) posted a letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi on Twitter, stating that he was resigning from his ministerial post in the Punjab Cabinet, reports The Times of India.

Soon after posting the letter, which is dated 10 June, Sidhu tweeted, “Will be sending my resignation to the chief minister, Punjab."

Sidhu and Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh have not been seeing eye to eye over a number of issues, ranging from the former visiting Pakistan for Imran Khan’s swearing in ceremony and hugging the Pakistan Army chief there, to the latter allegedly playing a role in ensuring a ticket was not given to Sidhu’s wife for the Lok Sabha elections.

Last month the portfolio of local government and tourism and cultural affairs was taken away from Sidhu, and he was instead given the ministry of renewable energy.

"We swim and we sink together... It is a collective responsibility. My department has been singled out publicly. One must have the ability to see things from the right perspective. I cannot be taken for granted. I have been a performer throughout. I am answerable to the people of Punjab," he had stated after the cabinet reshuffle.
