Chinese smartphones manufacturer, OnePlus, was able to meet its sales target in lesser time than they had expected it to, the Telecom Talk reports. CEO Pete Lau, in an interview, reveals that the premium smartphone manufacturer met the sales target of Calendar Year 2018 (CY18) within nine months, three months ahead of its goal.

During an interview with Forbes India, Pete Lau said the company’s growth in CY18 was about 30-35 per cent higher against last year. Further, he added that the latest flagship devices that were launched in 2018, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T have been performing exceptionally well.

Lau said the sales of the smartphones were so good that 45 days before the launch of OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, not a single unit of their predecessors, i.e., OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 6 respectively were available for purchase.

In India, OnePlus has managed to be the top smartphone in the premium segment (above Rs 30,000). OnePlus has left smartphone giants Samsung and Apple behind in the race to capture the market. In Q2 and Q3, OnePlus was able to obtain 40 per cent and 30 per cent market share respectively in the premium smartphone segment in India.

Despite all success, OnePlus does not seem to be satisfied. The company plans to launch three phones in 2019 - OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7T and a 5G Phone, rather than the two they launch every year.

Earlier, during the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit, Lau had confirmed that OnePlus had begun working with Qualcomm, Verizon and AT&T to launch the 5G phone in the first half of 2019.
