Pakistan Economic Crisis: After Luxury Cars, Government To Auction Buffaloes Of PM House

The Pakistan government will be auctioning eight buffaloes in the prime minister’s residence as part of an austerity drive, Economic Times has reported. Naaem-Ul-Haq, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Political Affairs announced the news to the media.
“After surplus car auction, four surplus helicopters will be sold which are lying unused with the cabinet division. Plus, now listen to this, eight buffaloes which Nawaz kept at the PM house for his gastronomic requirements. So all potential buyers get ready,” he tweeted on Tuesday (10 September).
The auction of buffaloes and helicopters will be conducted after the auction of luxury cars on 17 September as per reports of Geo TV. In addition to this, the Pakistan government is also exploring options to generate revenue from land at its disposal.
The economic situation in Pakistan was found to be precarious at the time of Imran Khan’s election as Prime Minister. The country is also trying to get loans from international economic institutions to tide over the crisis.
The US administration had earlier this year cancelled $ 500 million in CSF towards Pakistan for its failure to come down hard on terror outfits undermining American interests in the region. This has made the Islamic nation heavily dependent on China.
