After Twitter started to suspend accounts of originating from Pakistan for spreading fake news and propaganda against India with respect to recent developments in Jammu & Kashmir, the Government of Pakistan has reached out to Twitter to take up the matter, reports The New Indian Express.

The Government of Pakistan is believed to have told Twitter that over 200 such accounts operated by Pakistani citizens have been suspended within the past one week. The Government took up the issue after it was flagged by a number of Pakistan based journalists, activists, government officials and followers of the Pakistan Army.

An official complaint in this matter has been filed with Twitter's regional office by Pakistan's Telecommunications Authority (PTA). The development was revealed by Arslan Khalid who is Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan's Focal Person on Digital Media.

Khalid also said, "We are approaching this case with a multi-pronged strategy where PTA has sent the complaint mentioning (200) accounts to the regional office seeking an explanation for their suspension. We are also working on a long-term strategy through the National IT Board (NITB) so that such a situation does not arise again."
