In a setback for United States (US) President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestine has rejected Middle East Peace Plan proposed by America, reports Asian News International (ANI).

The rejection was announced by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday (11 February) at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). He asserted that the Plan proposed by President Trump annulled the legtimacy of the Palestinian rights to self-determination, freedom and independence in their own State.

Referring to Israel's settlement expansion in West Bank and East Jerusalem, President Abbas underscored that the proposed peace deal had legitimised the 'illegal' settlements and the ‘confiscation and annexation’ of Palestinian land.

He said that the proposal would neither bring peace nor stability, and leave Palestinians with a state resembling ‘Swiss cheese’.

The Palestinian President, however, also stated that he was ready to launch negotiations with Israel under the patronage of quartet.

The plan had been proposed by President Trump in January. It proposed creation of a Palestinian State with an established capital in East Jerusalem and double the present amount of territory under Palestinian control.
