The elder son of former Bihar Chief Minister and jailed RJD chief Lalu Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, has rejected his father’s advice to play peacemaker and is determined to end his marriage with current wife Aishwariya Rai, Patna Daily has reported.

Tej Pratap had filed for divorce at a Patna civil court last week. The case is scheduled to come up for hearing at a family court in Patna on 29 November .

Tej Pratap visited his father at a hospital in Ranchi on Saturday and informed media that his father is not supporting him in his decision but he is prepared to go ahead with the divorce proceeding.

When asked if his acrimonious divorce hurt his fledgling political career and the party, Tej Pratap said he was not concerned about that. "What do you want me to do, kill myself? Hang myself?" an angry Yadav retorted.

As per the reports, party chief Lalu Yadav, who is serving 14 years in connection with the fodder scam and counselled him to not to act in haste. He also suggested that he will work towards reconciliation once he is back in Patna on bail. Tej Pratap however, appears to have rejected Lalu’s request.

Tej Pratap has been visiting temples in Mathura and Vrindavan, the land of Lord Krishna, in search of solace after filing the divorce petition. He reportedly performed a 'parikrama' at the famous Govardhan Hill.

Tej Pratap has had a flare for controversy. His marriage poster depicting him as Lord Shiva and his wife as Goddess Parvati had attracted severe criticism. A video showing him dressed as Lord Krishna and playing the flute to a herd of cows had also gone viral on social media.

Lalu Prasad is said to be under tremendous stress over Tej Pratap’s planned divorce.
