Patna Metro Project Gets Nod From Cabinet; PM Modi May Lay Foundation Stone On 17 February

The Narendra Modi-led cabinet cleared the Patna Metro Rail project, which is estimated at Rs 13,411.25 crore, on Wednesday (13 February), Financial Express reports.
According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, PM Modi may lay the foundation stone for the two corridors Patna Metro Project on 17 February, following an event at the Barauni Refinery on the same day. Earlier, Modi was expected to lay the foundation stone at an NDA event on 3 March.
Patna Metro’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) had received approval from the Modi government last year itself. According to the DPR, the project is set to be undertaken in two phases. Phase 1 will have two corridors, with one connecting Patna East to Patna West and another connecting between North and South.
Once the project is completed, the metro will connect the state capital with areas located on the outskirts - Didarganj and Danapur. The subway will pass via central regions of the city like the Dakbungalow Chowk, Frazer road and Gandhi Maidan.
Major stations will be coming up at Saguna More, Bailey More, Dakbungalow Chowk, Frazer Road, Gandhi Maidan, Danapur, Digha, Raja Pul, Ashok Rajpath, Kurji, Didarganj (Patna City) and Agamkuan.
The Bihar government has estimated the project’s cost at Rs 17,000 crore, which will be shared by the state and central governments and the significant share will come from financial bidding. The Patna Metro Project is set to be completed in five years.
