Sun Direct and Tata Sky have introduced offers revoking the Network Capacity fee (NCF) for all of the channels, the Telecom Talk reports.
While Sun Direct subscribers will be able to access the free to air (FTA) channels with only the base back fee of Rs 130, excluding taxes, Tata Sky has introduced its offers on the same basis, after the rollout of the pay-per-channel plan of TRAI.
According to the latest Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regime, the subscribers' bill has been divided into two- content charges and the NCF. While the content charges go to the channel owners, the NCF goes to cable and DTH service providers.
By letting the NCF charges go, Sun Direct subscribers will be able to watch the 100 FTA channels and the channels in the additional slab for Rs 130 itself. Other operators charge Rs 20 NCF fee for the slab of additional 25 channels.
Subscribers of Sun Direct will be able to watch 330 channels at Rs 153 (inclusive of taxes) compared to Rs 600 that other subscribers pay for the same number of channels. The operator was able to figure out that they would not miss out on additional income as the people watching over 100 channels are less.
Tata Sky has also introduced a similar offer. While the DTH operator has revoked the NCF charges for additional channels, the number of channels that subscribers add is limited, enabling them to top up their pre-existing plans without any change in bills.
