Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Home Affairs (HM) Amit Shah will likely be visiting the newly carved Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh soon, revealed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Giving credit to PM Modi and Shah for according the long-awaited and demanded status of UT to Ladakh, Namgyal said that representation from Ladakh will soon be inviting PM Modi and Shah along with all others involved in making the bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) possible.
He said, "We have waited 70 years for this moment and now we are planning a grand celebration for them. Let the Prime Minister and Home Minister give us dates."
Along with this development, Namgyal has been involved in addressing the issues and doubts being raised by a few communities in the region regarding how the according of UT status to Ladakh would benefit the locals and the region as a whole.
Meanwhile, the internet and social media has been teeming with videos and pictures of people from Ladakh celebrating and dancing on the streets with Indian flags all around, rejoicing the fulfilment of their long awaited demand.
