PM Modi interacts with Army, BSF jawans in Gurez, Kashmir (narendramodi/Twitter)
Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is set to visit Kashmir Valley for the first time since the contentious Article 370 was done away with by the Parliament on 5-6 August 2019, so as to celebrate the festival of Diwali with the soldiers on the borders and at the forefront, securing the nation from adversaries, reports Financial Express.
The visit to Kashmir Valley by PM Modi comes just days ahead 31 October when the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir shall transition into two separate Union Territories (UTs) of Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that last year too, PM Modi had celebrated Diwali with the jawans of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in the state of Uttarakhand, to keep up with the initiative he had himself begun in 2014, to celebrate the festivity of Diwali with soldiers of the nation.
During his then visit to the Indo-Chinese border and celebration of Diwali along with the ITBP jawans, PM Modi had said that he had been visiting the soldiers on Diwali even in the earlier days when he had been serving as the Chief Minister (CM) of Gujarat.
