KPCC President and Karnataka Congress’ trouble shooter D K Shivakumar’s elder daughter Aisshwarya is slated to marry former Chief Minister S M Krishna’s grandson and Cafe Coffee Day owner Late V G Siddharatha’s son Amartya Hegde later this year.
The two are set to get engaged after the first death anniversary of Siddhartha, who committed suicide last year on 31 July by jumping into the Netravathi river in Mangaluru. Amartya Hegde is looking after the business along with his mother after his father’s tragic death last year, while Aisshwarya manages the educational institutions run by her father.
While some reports say that the talks of the alliance had been on even before the death of the Hegde’s father, there was also news of Aisshwarya’s proposed alliance with JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy. Nikhil Kumaraswamy recently married the grand niece of Congress leader M Krishnappa. The wedding grabbed eyeballs as it was conducted even as the city was under lockdown and battling the pandemic.
Siddharatha who is S M Krishna’s son-in-law, is said to have business relations with Shivakumar, who is also Krishna’s political protege. Both had been caught in the Income Tax net, which is said to have primarily pushed Siddhartha to kick the bucket, as he mentioned in an alleged suicide note that also carried further admissions that Shivakumar had called ‘fishy’.
Siddhartha’s name had been in the IT list after it emerged during investigations in money laundering case against D K Shivakumar. As per reports, information pertaining to financial transactions between DK Shivakumar’s daughter Aisshwarya and Cafe Coffee Day Ltd were said to have led IT sleuths to question the businessman from Chikamagalur. D K Shivakumar is also said to have due to meet the Cafe Coffee day owner on the day he went missing.
The proposed marriage will be conducted next year, as per reports, although there has been no confirmation of the same by the Kanakapura power broker who is all set to be sworn in as the party chief tomorrow.
