Prayagraj Ardh Kumbh 2019, the largest religious congregation in the world has now entered the Guinness Book of World Records in three different categories: largest traffic and crowd management plan; biggest painting exercise of public sites under paint my city scheme and; biggest sanitation and waste disposal mechanism.

To ascertain the size of the gathering, a three-member team from Guinness World Records visited the Prayagraj site. The team undertook survey extensively for three days from 28 February 28 to 3 March (2019).

In an event was organised by the Kumbh Mela administration and the state Health Department in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday (2 March), sanitation workers set a Guinness World Record when 10,000 of them got together for a three-minute cleaning drive at Kumbh.

UP Health Minister and Prayagraj MLA Siddhartah Nath Singh also joined the workers with a broom and said that the sanitation workers were the real heroes at Kumbh.

"Millions of people from India and abroad assembled at Kumbh over the past two months and everyone was impressed by the cleanliness and hygiene that you all ensured," he was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.

Five bath festivals have successfully concluded at the Kumbh with more than 22 crore pilgrims taking the holy dip at the Sangam of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. “Only a single bathing festival of Mahashivratri (4 March 2019) of the six main bathing festivals remains.”

“Around 503 shuttle buses were pressed into service in one go for the team on February 28 on the highway. Several people participated in painting exercise on March 1 and 10 thousand workers engaged in cleaning at Prayagraj Kumbh performing their duties all together,” said a government release.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the holy dip on 24 September (2019). After launching the Rs 75,000-crore Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme in Gorakhpur, Prime Minister Modi headed to Prayagraj where he took a dip in the Sangam and washed the feet of sanitation workers felicitating them,

Material Growth Too

A Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) report has stated that Prayagraj Kumbh Mela - 2019 is expected to generate employment for six lakh workers and revenues of Rs 1.2 lakh crore.
