Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the nation today (20 October) warned against being lax against Covid-19, and expressed disappointment on a section of the population being lax in taking precautions against Covid-19.
He also urged people to keep their and their family's safety in mind and recounted how a few nations are now seeing a spurt in Covid-19 cases. Prime Minister Modi thus advised people to maintain social distancing and wear marks to ensure happiness and joy during the upcoming festival season.
"No time for complacence. No time to believe the Corona threat is over. I have seen videos of people totally letting down their guard & violating rules. Not okay. If you are careless and roam without masks, you endanger yourself, your family, children, elders", Prime Minister Modi has been quoted as saying.
Prime Minister Modi thus said that until and unless the Covid-19 vaccine is out, people need to continue taking precaution against the virus. He also informed that the government continues to device ways to efficiently distribute the vaccine once it is out.
The Prime Minister also said that economic activities are picking up since the imposition of Covid-19 preventive lockdown, and normalcy is returning on the streets. The Prime Minister though warned that even though lockdown has been lifted the virus is still out there.
Prime Minister Modi said that the nation is seeing a healthy Covid-19 recovery rate with the nation seeing fewer infection and death rates per million compared to nations like Brazil and the United States.
Prime Minister Modi praised India's health workers, doctors and testing centres for fighting against the pandemic.
