Puducherry Signs Pact With Delhi-Based NBCC For Multiple Developmental Projects Worth Rs 300 Crore

The Puducherry Smart City Development Limited (PSCDL) has proposed launching a series of development projects worth Rs 300 crore in the town.
The PSCDL, a Puducherry government undertaking, has proposed awarding the projects to the National Buildings Construction Limited (NBCC) (India) Limited.
Chief Minister (CM) N Rangaswamy-led union territory government has put forward the proposal of developing and improving the Goubert Market that is spread across 2.9 acres of land.'
The PSCDL signed a memorandum of understanding with the New Delhi-based NBCC on Monday (16 May) for the development projects.
The plans include adding an additional commercial space of 50,000 sq ft with a multi-level car parking, Times of India (TOI) reports.
The authorities have also envisioned the establishment of a smart integrated bus terminus on 4.5 acres of land along with a 25,000 sq ft commercial space and an intracity bus terminus on the East Coast Road.
Some other developmental works proposed by the government include the improvement of the historical botanical gardens, refurbishment of the ancient Swadeshi Mill and the promotion of eco-tourism activities within the premises of the urban forest.
They have also recommended constructing a rail over-bridge on the Cuddalore Road via the Southern Railway, developing the Marapalam Road Junction and initiating an affordable housing project at Attupatti.
A 3-km stretch of the Grand Canal will be rehabilitated and beautified with cycle tracks, pedestrian pathways, street furniture along with food and beverage spots.
