As per the early trends from Punjab, AAP’s Bhagwant Mann looks all set to retain his seat from Sangrur, leading by a 39.59 per cent vote share. While the SAD and Congress are battling it out at 22 and 25 per cent vote share, AAP looks all set to for a solitary victory in the state of Punjab.
The victory, if it happens, will be attributed to the local popularity of Bhagwant Singh Mann. In other parts of Punjab, AAP has been decimated. In Gurdaspur, their candidate, Peter Masih, has a 0.46 per cent vote share. In Anandpur Sahib, another AAP stronghold as witnessed during the state assembly elections, the candidate is trailing with a 4.83 per cent vote share.
However, if the SAD and Congress candidates make some steady gains in the coming hours, it could spell trouble for the AAP in Sangrur. For now, their only victory looks to be coming from one of its infamous leaders.
