Punjab Police Arrest Army Cantonment Electrician In Jalandhar For ‘Spying’ For Pakistan, Sensitive Information ‘Lost’

The Punjab police claim to have arrested an electrician in the Military Engineering Services wing who was spying for Pakistan, reports Economic Times. The accused, Rahul Kumar, who was living in Jalandhar, is believed to have passed on sensitive information on Army outposts to a Pakistani operative.
Kumar reportedly told police that he was befriended by a Pakistani intelligence operative on social media and asked to provide information on Army units located on the border with the Islamic country. He was also asked to supply information on the movement of troops.
Police quoted him as saying that he had been working as an electrician in the Army cantonment in Jalandhar since 2013, and that he confessed that he had passed on details of mobile numbers of some military officers, to the enemy.
He also allegedly said that on more than one occasion, he had been paid for parting with information.
A case under the Official Secrets Act among other charges has been registered at a police station in Amritsar.
Kumar also said that post-Pulwama, his handlers in Pakistan had been very interested in the movement of Army troops along the border areas.
