Three Pakistani handlers were nabbed by the Punjab Police for smuggling drugs and weapons into India from across the international border. The Police also recovered two drones from the handlers, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The three were arrested while attempting to launch the drones from India across the border to fetch payloads of drugs. The police suspect that the drones were also used to smuggle weapons into the country.
It should be noted that of the two recovered drones, one was seized from Amritsar in Punjab and the other from Karnal in Haryana on Thursday (9 January).
The Police has also recovered 12 drone batteries, Rs 6.22 lakh worth cash and a car. The development comes as Punjab Police had begun to track in August 2018 the smuggling of drugs and weapons from across the border using drones.
Meanwhile, in another major success, the Punjab Police has also busted a terrorist module of the militant outfit Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) which was concocting plans to unleash a series of terrorist attacks in Punjab and neighbouring States.
