Qualcomm Incorporated, an American multinational semiconductor and telecommunications equipment company has accused mobile maker Apple of embezzling its chip making secrets to its competitor Intel Corporation reports Business Line.

It accused Apple of giving an undue advantage to Intel Corporation by sharing the chip making secrets which is reported to have cost Qualcomm billions of dollars worth of sales.

Qualcomm says Apple used its secret software to share information about its chips with Intel Engineers as part of a long run campaign to provide a competitive edge to the rival. Apple used Qualcomm's modem chips in its iPhone. However, they moved to Intel's modem chips in 2016 for iPhone 7.

Apple has refuted Qualcomm's claims saying that the chip maker was not specific in its claims. Apple alleged that it gave Qualcomm every chance to verify that its software is being used appropriately.

Qualcomm alleged that it has discovered that Apple used its software to help Intel improve the efficiency of its chipsets. Apple bounced back said that Qualcomm did not present evidence or say how it came to know about it.

The dispute, taking place in San Diego County Superior Court, is one strand of a wide-ranging legal battle in which Apple has accused Qualcomm of unfair patent licensing practices.
