TN CM Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Tamil Nadu (TN) Chief Minister (CM) Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced plans to set up a commemorative ‘stupa’ for Sanagm age poet Kanyian Poonkundranar whose verses “Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir” were quoted by PM Modi at the UN General Assembly earlier this year.
The pillar will come up at Mahipalanpatti in Sivaganga district and five other Sangam age poets will be similarly honoured, the CM said at the state’s maiden ‘Tamil Nadu Day’ celebrations, as per a PTI report.
The verses find mention in the 2000-year-old ‘Purananooru’ text, which the CM said had reverberated at the UN, in a reference to the PM’s speech.
The verse, meaning ‘We belong to all places, and to everyone and all people are our kin”, was quoted by the PM to outline India’s historical inclusiveness and respect for diversity.
The CM also mentioned Chinese President Xi Jinping’s appreciation of TN’s hospitality and announced that a world-class museum will be established in the Konthagai village in Sivaganga district featuring the rich artefacts from the recent Keezhadi findings.
