Former Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Marshal (retd) BS Dhanoa said yesterday (2 August) that in case of any aerial combat against China in the mountainous Tibet region, the brand new fleet of Rafale fighter jets will give India a strategic advantage, reports Indian Express.

Elaborating his assertion, Dhanoa explained that the fleet will be able to use the terrain to its advantage, destroy enemy air defence and incapacitate the surface-to-air missiles.

Delving deeper into it, Dhanoa emphasised that along with its fantastic electronic warfare suite and manoeuvrability, Rafale jets will be able to use mountainous terrain in the Tibet to its advantage and blind the enemy before India's strike aircraft penetrate hostile airspace to carry out their missions.

Former IAF Chief also added that the Rafale fighter jets that India has already begun to receive are much more advanced than the ones which are already serving the French Air Force as India has asked for something "more" sue to the requirement to operate in unique conditions like operations from Leh.

Dhanoa, under whose leadership the IAF carried out the celebrated Balakot cross border airstrikes, he further added that once the IAF receives the S-400 Triumf air defence missile systems from Russia, those in a combine with Rafale jets will give the IAF a major combat edge in the entire region and that India's adversaries will thereafter think twice before starting a war with it.
