A delegation of opposition leaders from nine parties led by former Congress party president Rahul Gandhi have already left for Srinagar from Delhi today (24 August) morning, even though the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration has requested them to say avoid visiting the state, reports Tribune.
In response to the announcement by opposition leaders that they will be visiting the Kashmir valley, the J&K administration had said that attempts should not be made to disturb the gradual restoration of normal life.
Tweets from the official Twitter handle of the Information and Public Relations Department of the J&K administration read, "At a time when the government is trying to protect the people of Jammu and Kashmir from the threat of cross-border terrorism and attacks by militants and separatists and gradually trying to restore public order by controlling miscreants and mischief-mongers, attempts should not be made by senior political leaders to disturb the gradual restoration of normal life."
The administration has also opined that by visiting Srinagar, political leaders from opposition parties will be violating the restrictions which have been imposed in many areas of the Kashmir Valley.
Administration has also added a cautious warning in their response that senior leaders of the opposition parties should understand that top priority would be given to maintaining peace, order and preventing loss of human lives.
