Congress leader and scion of the Nehru Gandhi family, Rahul Gandhi today posted a Tweet listing the names of dictators with names starting with the letter ‘m’, in an apparent jibe on India’s current prime minister Narendra Modi.

The Tweet included the names of Marcos (former president of Philippines); Mussolini (fascist dictator of Italy during World War 2), Milosevic (Yugoslavian leader charged with war crimes in Bosnian War, the Croatian War of Independence, and the Kosovo War), Mubarak (Egyptian military and political leader), Mobutu (former president of Zaire), Musharraf (former president of Pakistan), and Micombero (Army officer who ruled Burundi as a dictator).

The Tweet quickly became viral and was bombarded with questions from the Twitterati regarding Rahul Gandhi’s own grandfather and the father of Sonia Gandhi, Stephan Maino, who had openly declared unwavering loyalty to Mussolini and Italy's 'admirable' fascist past.

Maino served as a foot soldier in Italian dictator Benito Mussolini’s army, and was reportedly immensely proud of fighting against the Russian Reds alongside Hitler’s Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front in World War II..

Social media users also questioned why Rahul Gandhi decided to skip Chinese leader Mao Zedong’s name who caused millions of deaths in a span of few years. Some wondered whether the exclusion of Mao hinted at the clandestine ties between the Communist Party in China and the Congress party in India.

One user questioned whether Rahul Gandhi kept stalwarts of Congress party like former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh; Rahul’s great-grandfather Motilal Nehru, and the father of the nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, in the same lot.
