Making a new electoral promise in the bid to win power following the Lok Sabha polls, Congress president Rahul Gandhi at an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur promised to abolish examination fees for government job entrances if voted to power, ANI has reported.

“We have decided that no one has to pay an application fee for the examination for any government posts. We have decided to abolish examination fee”, Rahul Gandhi was quoted as saying. The Congress had incidentally also promised the same in its Lok Sabha manifesto.

Earlier, the Congress had promised a minimum guaranteed income of Rs 72,000 per month for the bottom 20 per cent of India’s poor families under its NYAY scheme.

This has led to a lot of faux passes from the Congress president has he has been recorded promising Rs 72,000 per month, Rs 72,000 crore per year under this scheme. He also once got basic multiplication wrong while speaking about the scheme.
