Rahul Gandhi is visiting the US in the first week of June and will speak to NRIs in New York on 4 June, according to sources, as reported by a news agency.
The venue for his address to NRIs has not been chosen yet and will be confirmed later this week.
During his week-long stay, Gandhi might visit Washington, DC, and Los Angeles.
He may also interact with university students during his US visit.
The Congress leader's comments during his March visit to the UK, claiming that Indian democracy was being attacked and its institutions faced a full-scale assault, caused controversy upon his return to India.
After his remarks, the BJP back home accused Gandhi of slandering India on foreign soil and seeking foreign intervention, while the Congress brought up instances of PM Modi doing the same.
