The Ministry of Railways leads central government ministries towards the Clean India commitment, receiving the award for the best implementation of Swachhata Action plan for 2018-19.
Indian Railways has been placing all the required resources for the campaign while also planning cleanliness drive for trains and stations regularly. These drives are also monitored by uploading of selected photographs on E-Drishti and the Minister’s dashboard. The ministry has spent close to Rs 3000 crore on cleanliness drives on its various properties during 2018-19.
The three best stations as per Cleanliness Ranking Survey for 2018, Jodhpur, Jaipur & Tirupati were also awarded by President Ramanth Kovind while the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST) Mumbai was adjudged as the Best Swachh Iconic Place in the program.
