Ram Temple Construction: SC Directs Government To Form Board Of Trustees; Nirmohi Akhada To Have Representation

After the Supreme Court verdict giving the Ram Janmabhoomi for the Ram Temple and alternate five acre land for a mosque, the court further directed the union government to formulate a scheme in three months to set up a board of trustees for construction of temple at the disputed structure.
The court also directed that appropriate representation be given to Nirmohi Akhara in the board.
The court also appreciated role of mediators Justice Kalifulla, ace mediator Sriram Panchu and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar who came very close to settlement.
The court stated that it had based its judgement not on faith and belief but legal evidence. The court admitted the findings of the ASI report that there existed a ‘Hindu-structure’ beneath and the mosque was not built on a vacant land.
The court further stated that the Muslim side had not been able to prove exclusive ownership of the land as Hindus hadbeen praying at the site for a long time, and there was no record of Muslim offering prayers prior to 1857, but thereafter they offered namaz there till they were ousted in 1949.
