Uber India
Uber India has urged the government to ease regulations to ensure fair competition, at a time when rapid urbainsation requires smooth mobility.
Uber India president, Amit Jain, called upon the government to stop burdening the transport industry with obsolete regulations.
“Let’s deregulate and make it a level playing field for everybody,” he said at a panel discussion on ‘Cracking India’s Urban Code’ at the India Economic summit of the World Economic Forum in New Delhi.
He appealed for the need to do away with regulations in other areas that can affect the transportation industry, like for instance, supply caps and price restrictions.
The challenge now is to prove to regulators and policymakers the convenience of technology for the riders, drivers and the cities at a time when rapid urbanisation is increasing the demand for infrastructure and mobility requirements.
