India's bilateral trade with Central Asia's richest nation Kazakhstan has soared to record heights in the first two months of 2019, reaching $265,700, reports Economic Times.
This marks a 50.4 per cent increase in the trade value from the figures achieved in the same period last year.
The two nations are also working together to launch additional direct flights between them under India's revamped Central Asia Policy.
According to Kazakhstan Ambassador to India Bulat SarsEnbayev, this initiative will provide further impetus to the trade between the two nations, while also boosting tourism.
Presently, Air Astana of Kazakhstan runs direct flights to Delhi from both Astana and Almaty which has had a positive effect on tourism activity.
Ambassador SarsEnbayev also underscored that the Embassy had issued more than 25,000 visas to Indian citizens to visit Kazakhstan last year and that the figure is expected to increase as the Embassy has simplified the process with the introduction of e-visa.
"The state and prospects of development of Kazakh-Indian relations show that we have chosen the right vector of development of cooperation,” said Ambassador SarsEnbayev.
“Kazakhstan will continue to raise the strategic partnership to an even higher level and to strengthen relations between India and Kazakhstan with new meaning and content for the sake of the friendship and prosperity of the people of the two countries," he added.
