Reliance Jio may finally commercially launch the highly awaited Jio GigaFiber in August, industry sources said in a report of Data Quest. The source who asked for anonymity said that the Jio DTH or Internet Protocol television (IPTV) would be available in August.
“There is no such thing called Jio DTH, it is IPTV and it could be available in August,” he said. The Jio GigaFiber has been in the testing for some time now. The preview offer was available to users with a security deposit of Rs 4,500 and offers 100 Mbps speed. Earlier, it was reported that the service would be launched in the Reliance AGM in July.
In another move, Reliance has transformed the Jio 4G Voice App into JioCall to make way for its new fixed-line service, NDTV Gadgets reports. Through the updated app, users would be able to make Jio fixed line connections smart by enabling video and voice calls on their smartphone.
The Jio 4G Voice App includes VoLTE support to existing 2G, 3G and 4G phones to enable HD voice and video calls. The app also works like a JioFi device to enable VoLTE call features. Once configured, users will be able to make voice and video calls over the Jio network and would not need to have a separate SIM card.
