A major reshuffle of Indian diplomats posted to important world capitals is on the cards with reports indicating that the envoy to Bangladesh, Harish Shringla, would be the next Ambassador to the United States. Vikram Misri, the current envoy to Myanmar, is expected to India’s new Ambassador to China, replacing Gautam Bambawale.
Indian envoy to Japan, Sujan Chinoy, is expected to be replaced by Sanjay Varma, but only after the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Tokyo in end-October. Further, the current head of the Ministry of External Affairs’ (MEA) culture arm, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Riva Ganguly Das, is expected to be the new envoy to Bangladesh.
In other notable postings, Yash Sinha, who is currently the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and on the verge of retirement, is slated to be replaced by Ruchi Ghanshyam. Thailand is also expected to witness a change in personnel with the new Ambassador slated to be Suchitra Durai.
