The Kerala High Court has reprimanded the Pinarayi Vijayan government for playing to some elements and making unlawful arrests in the Sabarimala Issue.
The court on Friday (26 October) pulled up the Pinarayi Vijayan government for the shady arrests made in connection with Sabarimala protests and asked the government not to play to the gallery demanding an explanation from the government on the state-wide arrests.
Pathanamthitta natives Suresh Kumar and Anoj Kumar had approached the High Court with a petition alleging unlawful arrests were made by police in Sabarimala in connection with the protests by the devotees, as reported by Mathrubhumi.
Considering the petition, it observed that the arrest of a person could be made only after their involvement has been confirmed. It warned the government that a significant price has to be paid if any innocent person has been arrested and asked the government to probe if only devotees attended Sabarimala or if any other elements too had been there.
This case will be reviewed again on Monday (29 October) when the government has to furnish the explanation for the arrests.
