BJP leader Nitesh Rane
The Ambani bomb threat case took an interesting turn when the NIA arrested Mumbai police “encounter specialist” Sachin Vaze in connection with the murder of Mansukh Hiren.
Now, BJP leader Nitesh Rane has claimed that Vaze had demanded money from the bookies who start the betting before the IPL season, and was in touch with Varun Sardesai, a person considered close to Aaditya Thackeray.
Rane is a member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for the Kankavli vidhansabha constituency.
“There are bookies in Mumbai who start operating before the start of the IPL. We have info that these bookies were contacted by Sachin Vaze. They were told if they didn't give a certain amount of money, we (Vaze) would ensure that they get busted, probed and arrested,” Rane was quoted as saying by ANI.
"There is one Varun Sardesai who has got Y+ security from Maharashtra government, and is related to the government. He had contacted Vaze and his conversation is also there with Vaze. He had said - ‘why are you demanding this, what is our share?' This angle should be investigated by the NIA,” said Rane.
In January this year, Maharashtra government reportedly gave X category security to Varun Sardesai, while cutting down security for many opposition leaders.
Sardesai, according to a TOI report, is a secretary in the Yuva Sena, a cousin of Sena leader and environment minister Aaditya Thackeray. He is reportedly seen as a key figure in the Sena now after a quick rise in the ranks.
