Saradha Chit Fund Scam: Mamata’s Former Top Cop Made ‘Very Very Serious’ Revelations During CBI Interrogation

Former Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar made ‘very very serious’ revelations during his CBI interrogation as per the investigative agency’s status report, the Supreme Court has observed, Press Trust of India (PTI) has reported.

Kumar was a highly favoured cop of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who went to the extent of detaining CBI officials after they reached the then police commissioner’s residence. She even went on to call Kumar “among the best in the world”.

Kumar was transferred to the CID soon after his interrogation by the CBI in Shillong.

Now as per the PTI report the Supreme Court has termed CBI’s revelations as ‘very very serious’ in connection its status report over the interrogation of Rajeev Kumar in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has observed that it cannot close its eyes if some very very serious facts are presented in front of it and sought a CBI application seeking appropriate action against Kumar. CBI has been granted 10 days to do so.
