V K Sasikala's brother has blamed late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa for his sister’s plight, following the Income Tax Department raids on properties and premises linked to the jailed leader’s family.

V Dhivaharan, Sasikala’s youngest brother, who so far had claimed that the central government was behind the I-T raids, which he called were political vendetta, now alleged that Jayalalithaa ‘utilised’ Sasikala and left without ensuring adequate ‘protection’ for his sister.

Dhivaharan said: “Just imagine, if someone from your family happened to be with a powerful leader and did all the things said by the leader, and was still pushed to an unsafe situation later, then that is the best example for all women. It is a lesson for all,” he said while responding to questions on the I-T raids.

“Amma (Jayalalithaa) utilised her (Sasikala) fully, but went without giving her any protection,” he said.

Dhivaharan also said how Sasikala has been facing 'inquiry' since 1996, referring to the disproportionate assets case.

On the recovery of pen drives and a laptop during the I-T search at Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence, he said, “I have been away from the garden for a long time.”

Sasikala’s nephew, T T V Dhinakaran, who leads a faction of Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, dismissed his statement as a comment made in ‘angiush’.
