Bihar is expected to declare early completion of 100 per cent electrification of willing households under the Prime Minister Saubhagya scheme, Economic Times has reported. The official of the state government told the paper that they are aiming to complete the target by Thursday (25 October).
“We aim to declare as early as 25 October that we have completed the job and we have saturated all willing households. A mopping up exercise is going on,” said Bihar power secretary Pratyaya Amrit.
Bihar had to cover nearly 32 lakh households for electrification, which is the second highest in the country, only after Uttar Pradesh (UP). The number of households that UP had to formally electrify under the scheme is 1.39 crore.
The central government has set a deadline of 31 December for completion of the target under the scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana or the PM Saubhagya scheme was launched by the Prime Minister last year and aims to provide electricity for all households of the country.
